Bank robbery suspect arrested after chase

A bank robbery in Lexington on Friday morning led to a high-speed chase through parts of four Central Kentucky counties, culminating in the arrest of an Illinois man.

Lexington police identified the man as Daniel Vincent, 28, of Aurora, Ill. Vincent, who is charged with first-degree robbery, was lodged in the Fayette County Detention Center.

Vincent was arrested on foot just before noon, after crashing his Mercedes-Benz GLK 250 SUV into a guardrail on U.S. 62 about a mile southwest of Cynthiana, police said. According to officers on the scene, the man fled the wrecked vehicle and ran down an embankment into a field; he was taken into custody near a pond.

Officers from Lexington, Scott and Harrison counties, the Kentucky State Police and other jurisdictions were involved in the pursuit at various times. Speeds sometimes reached about 80 mph, according to Lexington police.

The incident began at 11:27 a.m. with a robbery at Lexington's First Federal Bank, 2452 Sir Barton Way.
